Dealing with Tooth Discoloration
Teeth can lose their natural color for many reasons. Everyday habits like drinking coffee, tea, red wine, or dark sodas can leave stains over time. Smoking is also a common cause of discoloration. In some cases, discoloration starts while teeth are still developing, and those deeper stains may not go away with regular cleanings.
At Dehnert Dental, we understand how frustrating tooth discoloration can be, and we’re here to help. Depending on the type and cause of the staining, we offer several options to bring back your brighter smile. For surface stains, professional cleanings and at-home whitening may be enough. For deeper or older stains, cosmetic treatments like veneers or crowns may provide the best results. We’ll work with you to find the solution that fits your smile goals.
Tooth Bleaching
One of the most effective ways to lighten stained teeth is tooth bleaching. At Dehnert Dental, we offer a take-home whitening system that uses custom-fit trays designed just for your mouth. You’ll apply a gentle bleaching gel and wear the trays for about 30 to 60 minutes per day. Most patients notice a visible change after about seven sessions.
The process is safe and doesn’t damage your teeth, though some people may feel temporary sensitivity to hot or cold during treatment. A full exam is important before starting, so we can confirm that bleaching is right for you.
Once you’ve reached a shade you love after a few sessions, keep your trays. They make it easy to touch up your smile whenever you need a little refresh in the future.
